FAQ

Common questions

Is Kudos free?
Yes — completely free. No plans, no trials, no usage limits. Install it and start celebrating your team right away.
I'm getting an error when trying to install the app. What do I do?
If you see a "Permission denied" or "This app requires admin approval" message, your Slack workspace restricts app installations to admins. Ask your Slack administrator to approve Kudos, or request that they grant you permission to install apps. Once approved, the install link will work straight away.
What permissions does Kudos need, and why?
Kudos requests only what it needs: permission to post messages (chat:write), handle the /kudos command (commands), look up display names (users:read), and send DM notifications to recipients (im:write). No message history is ever read, and no files are accessed.
Can I give kudos to multiple people at once?
Absolutely. Just mention everyone in one command — /kudos @alice @bob @carol Great sprint, team! — and each person will get their own notification.
How does the leaderboard work?
Type /kudos leaderboard in any channel to see the five most-recognized teammates in your workspace. Rankings are based on kudos received — the more teammates celebrate someone, the higher they climb.
